Press Release Summary: Patricia Kennedy honors Dodgers\' great Rick Monday at a pre-game ceremony.
Press Release Body: Tuesday, September 2nd, at Dodger Stadium, the ceremonial first pitch was thrown out by Patricia Kennedy, President and Founder of Step Up 4 Vets. Prior to taking the mound, Kennedy bestowed upon Dodger’s announcer, Rick Monday, a “Peace One Earth Medallion” inscribed, “RICK MONDAY, An Unforgettable Act of Valor, An Inspired Act of Patriotism, April 25, 1976.” Monday was the Chicago Cubs outfielder who saved the American flag from being burned by two protesters on the ball field that day in April of 1976.
Patricia, long known as \"The First Lady of the Joffrey Ballet,\" recently decided to take her passion and expertise in philanthropy and fundraising to helping the cause of Veterans, founding Step Up 4 Vets (www.stepup4vets.org), with proceeds going to help Veterans as they transition to civilian life. As a secondary means of fundraising, this year, she unveiled the Peace One Earth Medallion at a gala in Beverly Hills, with Wayne Newton receiving the first one on behalf of his work with the USO. The public can now buy similar Medallions, which Patricia herself designed, at www.peaceoneearth.com, with proceeds going to Step Up 4 Vets.
Additionally, Patricia is being honored on September 13th for her years of philanthropic work. She will join the ranks of Italian aristocracy, as she will be named a Dame in the Sacred Military Constantin Order of St. George (a royal order under the House of Bourbon Two-Sicilies). Wayne Newton is also a member of the Sacred Military Constantin Order of St. George. Patricia plans on joining Newton on his next USO tour of Iraq in November.
